NextGen Coding Academy
Story
One Saturday afternoon, a father walked into our training centre with his sixteen-year-old son and asked a question that has stayed with us ever since. My son spends hours on his computer every day. Can he learn to build software instead of just consuming it? That conversation reflected what many parents and young people across Nigeria are beginning to realise. The digital economy is creating opportunities unlike anything previous generations experienced, yet many talented young people still lack access to practical technology education that prepares them for real careers.
NextGen Coding Academy was founded to equip students, graduates, and working professionals with practical digital skills that lead directly to employment, entrepreneurship, and innovation. Our academy delivers intensive programmes in software development, web technologies, mobile application development, cloud computing, artificial intelligence, UI/UX design, cybersecurity, data analysis, and digital entrepreneurship. Every programme is built around practical projects, teamwork, mentorship, and real-world business challenges rather than theory alone.
My journey into technology began inside a small cyber café where I became fascinated by the websites and software that businesses relied upon every day. I am David Adebayo, and after studying Computer Science, I worked as a software engineer for several technology companies developing business applications used across finance, retail, education, and healthcare. During those years, I interviewed many young graduates who possessed academic qualifications but lacked practical software development experience. I realised that employers were searching for portfolios, problem-solving ability, and hands-on technical skills rather than certificates alone. That gap between education and industry became the motivation for establishing NextGen Coding Academy.
We launched our academy inside a modest office with one classroom, twenty computers, reliable internet, and an unwavering commitment to practical learning. During our earliest programmes, I personally taught programming classes, reviewed assignments, mentored students after lectures, organised coding competitions, and invited experienced software engineers to share their industry knowledge. Watching our first graduates secure internships and full-time technology jobs confirmed that practical skills training could genuinely transform lives.
Since then, hundreds of students have completed our programmes. Some now work as software engineers, UI designers, cloud specialists, and cybersecurity analysts, while others have launched technology startups, freelance businesses, and digital agencies serving clients across Africa and beyond. We remain especially proud whenever former students return to mentor new learners because it demonstrates how knowledge continues multiplying long after graduation.
Our academy has also developed strong relationships with technology companies, startup incubators, universities, and innovation hubs that regularly recruit talent from our programmes. These partnerships allow students to participate in internships, hackathons, industry workshops, and collaborative software projects that expose them to professional working environments before they complete their training. Employers consistently tell us they value graduates who can contribute immediately rather than requiring extensive retraining.
Despite this success, our facilities have reached capacity. Every new admission period brings significantly more applications than we can accommodate. Students frequently join waiting lists because our classrooms, computer laboratories, and collaborative workspaces are fully occupied. We also receive increasing requests from organisations seeking customised corporate technology training, yet limited classroom space prevents us from accepting many of these opportunities.
The technology industry continues evolving rapidly, requiring investment in newer computer laboratories, cloud infrastructure, artificial intelligence training environments, cybersecurity simulation labs, and collaborative innovation spaces. Expanding our facilities will allow us to introduce additional specialised programmes while maintaining the practical, project-based teaching approach that has become the foundation of our academy.
After consulting technology leaders, education specialists, software companies, startup founders, and workforce development experts, we developed a structured expansion plan that focuses on increasing training capacity while preserving the personalised mentorship experience our students value. We believe expanding educational access today will produce long-term benefits for Nigeria's growing digital economy.
We are seeking ₦32,000,000 to expand NextGen Coding Academy, establish additional training facilities, and provide practical technology education to significantly more students across Nigeria. Every naira raised through this campaign will be invested directly into expanding educational infrastructure, improving learning resources, and preparing future technology professionals for successful careers.
The funds raised through this campaign will be used for the following:
Construct additional classrooms, collaborative learning spaces, innovation laboratories, and student project rooms capable of accommodating substantially larger training cohorts.
Purchase modern desktop computers, networking equipment, cloud infrastructure resources, interactive teaching technology, and software licences that support advanced technical training.
Establish dedicated laboratories for artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, cloud computing, software engineering, and mobile application development.
Recruit experienced software engineers, cloud architects, cybersecurity professionals, UI/UX designers, and technology mentors who will strengthen the quality of instruction across every programme.
Expand scholarship opportunities for talented young people from disadvantaged communities who demonstrate exceptional potential but face financial barriers to quality technology education.
Strengthen partnerships with technology companies, startup incubators, and innovation hubs that provide internships, mentorship, and graduate employment opportunities.
Develop entrepreneurship programmes that help graduates transform innovative software ideas into sustainable technology businesses capable of creating employment throughout Nigeria.
The impact of this investment extends far beyond one educational institution. Every graduate who develops practical digital skills contributes to Nigeria's technology ecosystem by creating innovative businesses, improving productivity across industries, attracting international investment, and generating employment opportunities for others. Technology education is no longer simply about learning to code—it is about building the human capital required to compete in an increasingly digital global economy.
Our long-term vision is to establish NextGen Coding Academy as one of Africa's leading practical technology training institutions, recognised for producing graduates who combine technical excellence, professional integrity, entrepreneurial thinking, and a commitment to solving real problems through innovation. We believe Africa's greatest technology resource is its talented young people, and our mission is to help unlock that potential.
Looking back, it is inspiring to remember that our academy began with a single classroom and a determination to make technology education more practical and accessible. Every student who believed in our programmes, every mentor who volunteered their expertise, every employer who hired our graduates, and every partner who supported our mission has contributed to the community we have built today. Their confidence continues motivating us to dream even bigger.
Your contribution to this campaign represents far more than expanding classrooms and purchasing computers. You are investing in education, innovation, entrepreneurship, skilled employment, digital transformation, and the future of thousands of young Nigerians who aspire to build meaningful careers through technology. Together, we can prepare the next generation of software engineers, innovators, and business leaders who will help shape Africa's digital future.
On behalf of our instructors, mentors, students, graduates, industry partners, administrative staff, and families, thank you for taking the time to read our story. We sincerely appreciate your confidence, encouragement, and support. We would be honoured to have you become part of the next chapter of NextGen Coding Academy.
