Chikore Furniture Manufacturing

Eight years ago, I began making custom furniture in a small workshop behind my family home. I had always enjoyed woodworking, and after completing my apprenticeship, I dreamed of building a business that produced durable furniture for homes, schools, offices, and small businesses throughout Zimbabwe.

In the beginning, I owned only a few hand tools and accepted small commissions for tables, chairs, and cupboards. Every completed project led to another recommendation, and before long, our workshop had developed a reputation for quality craftsmanship and dependable service.

Today, our team consists of skilled carpenters and apprentices who take pride in producing furniture built to last. We work closely with local suppliers, source quality timber whenever possible, and design products that meet the needs of both households and commercial customers.

Unfortunately, demand has now exceeded the capacity of our current workshop. Several schools and office complexes have approached us with large furniture contracts, but our limited production space and outdated machinery make it impossible to complete these projects within the required deadlines.

Expanding our workshop will allow us to increase production, reduce delivery times, improve workplace safety, and create more employment opportunities for young artisans who are eager to learn valuable woodworking skills.

We are seeking $680,000 to expand our manufacturing workshop and improve our production capacity.

The funds will be used for the following:

• Construct a larger production workshop.

• Purchase industrial woodworking machinery.

• Expand timber and raw material storage facilities.

• Hire and train additional carpenters and apprentices.

• Improve finishing and quality control processes.

• Purchase delivery equipment for transporting completed furniture.

This expansion will allow us to fulfill larger commercial contracts while continuing to serve our loyal residential customers. More importantly, it will create sustainable employment and provide practical skills to young people interested in manufacturing careers.
